188 Sans

188 Sans is a sans-serif typeface available in a range of resolutions and widths. The Regular weight, based loosely on Frank Hinman Pierpont’s Monotype Grotesque, calls to mind early 20th century workhorse sans-serifs. From there, things gets a little strange; 188 skips over immediate relatives, and heads straight for the most distant branches of its family tree.

188 Black Extended and Thin Condensed echo the cadence and feel of the Regular while varying dramatically in both weight and width. Pixel 70 and Pixel 100, constructed by filtering the forms of the Regular through two grids of progressively coarsening resolution, are an even more radical departure.
